Hollywood & Wine currently represents the following wineries and restaurants: CARDWELL HILL CELLARS is a family-owned winery specializing in premium Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Located on the southern slope of Cardwell Hill in the Willamette Valley near Corvallis, Oregon, a region fast gaining worldwide acclaim for the production of premium wines, Owners Nancy and Dan Chapel and Winemaker Jim Kakacek take meticulous care to adhere to environment-friendly practices and to use sustainable agricultural techniques in every aspect of the cultivation of quality wine grapes. Only the juice of the grape is removed from the vineyard; the rest is recycled back into the land. http://www.cardwellhillwine.com

Located in Ojai, California, CASA BARRANCA is the first certified organic winery in the Santa Barbara region. Vintner Bill Moses discovered his love for wine in the 1980s while studying in the South of France, where he lived with a family on a small farm and vineyard that practiced sustainable farming. There were several personal and professional stops along the way to Ojai, but Bill’s commitment to environmentally sustainable, organic and biodynamic practices as a method to grow the highest quality wine grapes only grew stronger. From employing solar electricity to power the underground stone winery and using gravity for gentle racking of the wine, to cleaning with earth friendly solutions and redistributing the crushed grapes back to the vineyard to nourish the vines, Bill is dedicated to handcrafting his wines with the most time-honored traditions of old world winemaking. http://www.casabarranca.com

COLE BAILEY VINEYARDS is a family-owned Mendocino County-based vineyard and winery that produces limited quantities of handcrafted Sauvignon Blanc and estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, each wine noble with the understated yet pulchritudinous aroma typical of a blue-blooded Brahmin. Nevertheless, from the first sip it's clear that "Sesquipedalian" wines are mouthfuls. Like a character from a Faulkner novel, they come right at you, powerfully forging ahead full-throttle, stunning reflections of their respective vineyards' terroir. Proprietors Jennifer and Bob Anderson christened their wines with the highbrow, multi-syllabic moniker "Sesquipedalian" (a poser who uses pretentious, fancy, multi-syllabic words when a simple one would do just fine) to be sure that there's no dumbing-down for the consumer and, instead, a smartening-up for the aficionado. Winemaker Jill Davis, formerly from William Hill and Buena Vista, in team with the Andersons, puts a very special spin on the wine. http://www.colebailey.com/

"The wines are made by one of my favorite winemakers, Jill Davis, known for her devotion to capturing with finesse a varietal's core character. The Cole Bailey Vineyards 2004 Mendocino Sesquipedalian Cabernet Sauvignon is young and robust, seizing the herbal, green-olive side of the varietal while not ignoring cherry and berry highlights. The Cole Bailey Vineyards 2005 Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc is lean, dry and fine, its clearcut grassy and fruity flavors not at all undermined by the gentle introduction of oak. I just hope they have some left when I get to Mendocino County next year." Etienne's passion grew as he tasted wine from all regions of the world as a translator with the United States Navy. While attending the University of California at Santa Barbara, he became interested in the area's unique microclimates and their ability to produce wines with distinct character. A winemaker was born. After an internship with Laetitia Vineyard and Winery, Etienne worked the 2000 harvest at Gainey Vineyards and the 2001-2004 harvests at Central Coast Wine Services as an enologist and winemaker. Etienne is currently winemaker for his own labels, CORDON and THE SANTA MARIA WINERY, as well as winemaker for Summerland Winery and consulting winemaker to many others in the Central Coast wine community. He is one of a handful of young winemakers trying to express the best of the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. And he's succeeding!

A degree in Biology from San Jose State and a masters in Entomology from Kansas State University took Vintner Dave Corey through various agricultural fields (literally) before he turned his attention to wine grapes. First as a pest control advisor and then as a consultant, providing technical support to the wine industry, Dave has worked with many, if not most, of the best vineyards and star winemakers in the Central Coast of California. With a growing passion, a sure commitment, and a second mortgage, Dave put his consulting role behind him to launch CORE in 2001, where he focuses his full-time efforts on making wines, managing Core’s Alta Mesa Vineyard, and running the business of it all with his wife and partner, Becky. A degree in Agricultural Business and Marketing and hands-on experience in marketing and PR with several Central Coast wineries allowed Becky to gracefully move into the full-time position of heading the accounting, sales and marketing for CORE, including designing the CORE label. Dave and Becky also produce wines under the C3, Kuyam, and Turchi labels. To quote, “the core of every wine begins in the vineyard." http://www.CoreWine.com

DARK HORSE sources fruit from small, quality growers in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley. The grapes are hand picked at optimum ripeness and gently crushed and fermented. Minimal handling ensures richness and true varietal character. The result: perfectly balanced, awesome wines! To quote Wine Spectators James Laube, "A real discovery...!". Michael Loykasek is the winemaker, a veteran from this northern Sonoma appellation, who worked at Meeker and Armida before starting his own label, and he consults for De La Montoya and Hauck Cellars. The Dark Horse Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Treborce Vineyard 2005 ($28, 650 cases) is a real discovery, which Tim Fish and I came across in yesterday's blnd tasting of new releases. This dark-hued wine is a mix of rich, rustic Sonoma Zinfandel flavors, with huckleberry, cracked pepper, sage and underbrush notes.Loykasek also produces a Russian River Zin and Dry Creek Cabernet, which I haven’t tasted, but given the quality of the Treborce Zin, I’m chomping at the bit. • Winemaker Mike Loykasek was awarded Red Winemaker of the year at the Sonoma Harvest Fair 2007 Sweepstakes on September 29, 2007! No surprise! • For those fans of Dark Horse's back label stories, such as the ersatz romance novel that appeared on past vintages, check out the latest tale about two cowboys out on the trail, discussing whether to pour the Zin or the Cab with the antelope they just shot. Winemaker Rabbi Sammy Perez's goal is to create a wine that is not only Kosher and unpasteurized, unfiltered and unfined, but is a leading contender in the market of ultra premium wines from the Central Coast. Rabbi Perez takes a minimalist approach to winemaking. Using traditional methods, he is creating handcrafted wines with balance and character. His Rhone-style KIDDUSH HASHEM CELLARS Syrah is made with grapes farmed meticulously at Great Oaks Ranch Vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley, a family owned vineyaard dedicated to producing low-yields with concentrated fruit. Giving credit to Rabbi Perez's attention to detail and true fruit expression, his wine is receiving great attention from Jewish and non-Jewish wine enthusiasts in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and across the country in only a short period of time. To quote Wolfgang Puck, "This is the best Kosher Syrah I have ever tasted." What does that tell you?!

Owners-Winemakers Ariel and Angela Lavie became fascinated with fine wines while studying biology, botany and environmental studies at UC Santa Cruz during the mid 90s. Their tastes for wine grew into passion and, shortly after graduation, they found a 40 acre property atop the Santa Rita Hills, a property perfect for their shared dream of organic farming and wine production. The Lavies honed their crafts with stints at Clos Pepe Vineyard and Central Coast Wine Services. Ariel then went on to work with Babcock Winery, Sunstone Winery, and, as head winemaker, Rideau Vineyard, while launching the LA VIE VINEYARDS label in 2000 with a tiny production of Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Since 2005, Ariel has been working full time for La Vie with Angela in the role of “Co-Fermenter,” assisting her husband in the cellar, managing their tasting room, and overseeing the business of farming grapes and producing exceptional wines. The plan is to focus on their solar and wind energy-powered Mt. Zion Vineyard plantings in the Santa Rita Hills.
